- Defensive player of the year and 20+ points per game in the Golden League as a senior in High School.
- As a freshmen at Antelope Valley College, first team all-Foothill Conference player who led the conference in blocked shots, had 7 rebounds and 14 points per game.
- The most athletic player in California JUCO basketball.
All Kyisean had to do was add an outside shot to his repertoire and after his sophomore year in 2009-10, he was on his way to an elite D-1 University with a full basketball scholarship. Continue to improve at the D-1 level and the NBA would certainly give him a look. Kyisean Reed was on his way…so what could go wrong? In spite of a full time athletic academic advisor at Antelope Valley College, Kyisean managed to not successfully complete his 24 units for his freshman year and was ruled ineligible to play for AVC in 2009-10. Not a good thing. Elite D-1 schools don’t like players who don’t take their academic’s seriously. Not that Kyisean isn’t capable of the academic’s, he is one of the brightest guys on the team.
As we enter the 2010-11 season, Kyisean has taken the classes necessary and is again academically eligible. Add to that, Reed now has a consistent outside shot and much improved ability to drive the lane. Also noted is that Kyisean Reed is taking a strong leadership role on the team. He is working with the freshman when they make mistakes and the team looks up to him leadership.
Its now up to Kyisean. He needs to continue to improve his academics; score 15-20 points; pull down 7-10 rebounds, block 4 shots; and be a sophomore leader on the team. Do that Kyisean and you are again on your way to fulfill your dreams and lead Antelope Valley College to one of the best years in its storied history. Its up to you.
Any update on Kyisean Reed as to whether he’s taken any more visits other than Utah State and which programs he’s considering? Thanks.
No additional visits that I know of. He is interested in Utah State but the season is getting so close that all of his energy is being placed there. He has been very focused this year.
