#25 Utah State University picked up their second California JUCO player in a week. Kyisean Reed, 6’7”, 215, forward gave Coach Stew Morrill his coveted athletic wing he has been looking for. Reed known for his defense, rebounding, and inside scoring added an outside shot to his repertoire this year. It is now up to Kyisean to complete his academics and show the rest of the D-1 schools what they they have missed by not being more aggressive in their recruitment.
Utah State did a great job in their recruiting. Utah State worked with AVC’s athletic academic advisor, Mike Rios after head coach Stew Morrill came in person to to bless the deal. Add to that a professionally orchestrated visit to the University and it
all fell into place. It is clear why the Utah State’s basketball program has done so well.
Utah State is taking a chance with Kyisean Reed and his academics. I think it is worth it as Kyisean is the most talented player AVC has has had as long as I have followed them. If he continues to improve as I expect he will, I believe he will be drafted by the NBA. As I have said before, “It’s now all up to Kyisean.”
