After many years of watching spring JUCO basketball workouts, there seems to be a “routine” that occurs;
- Several sophomore players look around at other JUCO’s for a chance to start, get more playing time, or just to move on.
- A couple of players come back “home” from other JUCO’s in hope to make the team.
- D-1 “kickbacks” show up.
- Local High School players without university offers look out of the Valley at other JUCO’s. Want to get away from home and hope they can get some playing time.
- Some players never miss a practice. Others are very lazy in the spring.
- The final sophomores receive scholarships.
- Talented High School seniors are finding they will not “get the grades” so start looking for a JUCO that will help them get a scholarship in the future.
- Top Division I universities head for Antelope Valley College to recruit players.
- Keep an eye on this site on DaShawn Gomez’s visit to the University of Chicago this weekend. He maybe getting close in make his choice of scholarships.
