The readers of my blog had a chance to vote in a poll with a following question; Should DaShawn Gomez return to Antelope Valley College for his sophomore year?
81.25% No, take one of the mid-major offers.
12.50% Yes, have a good sophomore year and get an elite D-1 scholarship.
6.25% I don’t know, its too hard to decide.
There is no question that the readers/fans of my blog are a conservative bunch: “A bird in the hand is better than two in the bush.” type.
DaShawn on the other hand has a different view; He says, “I really like the team we have coming back.” “My goal this year is to lead the team to a State Tournament championship and be the player of the year in California.” I have always wanted to play at the highest level after I leave Antelope Valley College
and this my chance.” Confidence!
DaShawn Gomez was on the phone today as promised and called the coaching staff at the University of Chicago and Idaho University with his decision and with his appreciation of their offer to him. Gomez know that only 1-28 players in Cal JUCO basketball get a scholarship offer. DaShawn’s parents are very comfortable with his decision.
Gomez is the best point guard I have seen at AVC in 10 years. With hard work, a solid returning team, new talent, and some luck, Gomez will prove the nay sayers wrong.
