I know, I know, officially the 2012-13 season doesn’t start until the Fall Semester(August 20, 2012) begins but believe me in JUCO Basketball the new season is here. Summer tournaments are being planned. JUCO Coaches are attending High School all-start games. D-1, D-2 players are thinking about making the move to JUCO colleges to improve their playing time.
The final 4 State Tournament Antelope Valley College team is in a good position to reload its talented team. So far, 3-5 of its graduating sophomores have accepted D-1 scholarships;
Antelope Valley:
Da’Shawn Gomez, PG – Iona (NY)
Jason Johnson, SG – Utah Valley
Reggie Murphy, Ctr – Texas Christian
The two additional graduating sophomores, Chris Bridges and Sean Boston are be recruited for a university scholarship as well. No question that AVC will lead all Cal JUCO teams in placing their players at D-1 universities this year. Nothing new here.
Now the work to place this year’s student athletes with university scholarships begins again. AVC will be playing at the Cal State Dominguez Valley Heat Shootout this summer in front of a huge crowd of University Coaches. These coaches will be seeing AVC compete against the best SoCal JUCO teams. The tentative date for this is:
Cal State Dominguez Valley University Shootout- 21, 22 July , 2011, Saturday, Sunday.
The new season has started. More to come.
